The Tre Golfi Record

16 hours, 44 minutes, 13 seconds: looking forward the 2017 Regata dei Tre Golfi, it is good to know that the race record was set just last year by Cippa Lippa 8 (skipper Guido Paolo Gamucci), first in real time for the second consecutive year after smashing the record of the Race.
The previous lasted 10 years: it was set by Pierluigi Loropiana’s My Song, in 2006, with a time of 25 hours 27 ‘.

Report of the 62nd Regata dei Tre Golfi

An exciting regatta, almost a match race between the Cookson 50′ Cippa Lippa 8 and the Mylius 60′ Fra Diavolo, who first toured the Ponza island, after more than 60 miles of upwind, with thunderstorms and hailstorms that have decimated the fleet.
In the long downwind leg from Ponza to Li Galli, off the coast of Positano, the two boats battled under A3, then A4 and jib-top, as the wind and sea reinforced.
Then Cippa Lippa‘ gliding ability transformed the last 15 miles in a victorious ride to the finish line.

The departure at midnight was of rare beauty, the cyclone Poppea began to blow at over 20 knots from the west, as announced. 70 boats battled in the teeming of lights that crisscrossed in the darkness, under the leaden sky.
